Bayesian spatial modelling of Ebola outbreaks in Democratic Republic of Congo through the INLA‐SPDE approach

چکیده

Ebola virus (EBV) disease is a globally acknowledged public health emergency, endemic in the west and equatorial Africa. To understand epidemiology especially dynamic pattern of EBV disease, we analyse case notification data for confirmed cases reported deaths ongoing outbreak Democratic Republic Congo (DRC) between 2018 2019, examined impact violence on spread virus. Using fully Bayesian geo-statistical analysis through stochastic partial differential equations (SPDE) allows us to quantify spatial patterns at every point domain. Parameter estimation was based integrated nested Laplace approximation (INLA). Our findings revealed positive association violent events affected areas (posterior mean = 0.024, 95% CI: 0.005, 0.045) 0.022, 0.041). Translating an increase 2.4% 2.2% relative risks associated with unit (one additional average 45 events). We also observed clusters neighbouring locations similar manners. Findings from study are therefore useful hot spot identification, location-specific surveillance intervention.

Ebola virus disease in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

BACKGROUND The seventh reported outbreak of Ebola virus disease (EVD) in the equatorial African country of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) began on July 26, 2014, as another large EVD epidemic continued to spread in West Africa. Simultaneous reports of EVD in equatorial and West Africa raised the question of whether the two outbreaks were linked. METHODS We obtained data from patients ...

Ebola Virus Disease, Democratic Republic of the Congo, 2014

During July-November 2014, the Democratic Republic of the Congo underwent its seventh Ebola virus disease (EVD) outbreak. The etiologic agent was Zaire Ebola virus; 66 cases were reported (overall case-fatality rate 74.2%). Through a retrospective observational study of confirmed EVD in 25 patients admitted to either of 2 Ebola treatment centers, we described clinical features and investigated ...

Ebola between outbreaks: intensified Ebola hemorrhagic fever surveillance in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, 1981-1985.

Surveillance for Ebola hemorrhagic fever was conducted in the Democratic Republic of the Congo from 1981 to 1985 to estimate the incidence of human infection. Persons who met the criteria of one of three different case definitions were clinically evaluated, and blood was obtained for antibody confirmation by IFA. Contacts of each case and 4 age- and sex-matched controls were also clinically exa...

Lakes as Source of Cholera Outbreaks, Democratic Republic of Congo

We studied the epidemiology of cholera in Katanga and Eastern Kasai, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, by compiling a database including all cases recorded from 2000 through 2005. Results show that lakes were the sources of outbreaks and demonstrate the inadequacy of the strategy used to combat cholera.
